My Address to the African Union!

First and fore most I would appreciate it if you would hold such events as these or from your respective countries under minimum budget. We have seen many people blowing budgets out of proportion whenever there is a state event. I do not know if you are aware of this, but some of the amounts can be channeled somewhere else where the need is greatest. With all due respect, we know you are very busy people but from time to time try to get a glimpse of how monies are being spent by your people, everything should be accounted for and we could do away with some extravagance, here and there.

This brings me to the Walk a mile in her shoes campaign. Whoever came up with that campaign deserves some chocolate. Apparently, some of you are oblivious of the day to day lives of grassroots people. Some of you rely on news sites for updates but even those aren’t accurate. Make time to understand your peoples’ real struggles, so that you do not find yourselves chasing something that is not really a priority.

Oh, by the way, the people that you select to lead us, can they be selected on merit rather than in the name of balancing matrices. We are tired of mediocre leaders that have no clues of running systems yet they will be stuck in the same position 4, 5 years. We want people who are able.

As heads of States, how come you do not help each other? Why do you have to wait for pestilence to extend a helping hand? There is a United States of America, while they are independent states, I believe they do help each other. Why can’t we do the same with our economies? Some of you are good at delivering heartfelt speeches of ubuntu, but when it comes to practice, dololo. Let us practice what we preach. As Africans we are known for our warmth and love for one another, let it manifest in building each other’s economy. We can have one or two excelling economies but as long as the majority is still struggling, we will always be known as the developing continent.

With that, I thank you.
